Davao City recorded the highest number of Tuberculosis (TB) cases in the region based on the latest report of the regional office of the Department of Health (DOH 11).
Annabelle P. Yumang, regional director of DOH 11, reported on Friday that the agency recorded a total of 10,363 new cases of TB in the Davao Region from January to June this year with Davao City having the highest number of cases with 4,315.
Davao del Norte have the second highest number of cases in the region with 2,209 followed by Davao de Oro with 1,359, Davao del Sur with 1,247, Davao Oriental with 889 and Davao Occidental with 344.
Yumang attributed the high number of cases to DOH 11’s intensified TB detection by conducting mobile chest X-rays in the community.
It could also be attributed to our campaign on TB prevention. Dili lang DOH and health centers but tanan tawo, we have also other partners nga nagatabang para mapaawhag ang katawhan in terms of addressing TB like kung duna na silay symptoms unsa ang ilahang angayan buhaton,” Yumang said during the Kapihan sa PIA at NCCC-Victoria Plaza on Friday.
Yumang advised the public to seek consultation in case of TB symptoms to avoid worsening of the disease.
Ang uban gani walay simtomas but pag chest x-ray naa diay silay TB,” she said.
