The Commission on Elections-Davao Region (Comelec-Davao Region) reported a total of 47,637 aspirants for the Barangay and SK Elections (BSKE) slated on October 30, 2023.
The aspirants are composed of 28,519 for barangay positions and 19,118 for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) seats.
Comelec-Davao Region assistant director lawyer Gay Enumerables said on Monday that the aspirants are vying for positions in 1,162 villages in the region.
Based on the consolidated data of Comelec-Davao Region, the total number of aspirants who filed their COC per elective position in Davao City, with 182 barangays, are 363 male and 108 female for Punong Barangay and 3,222 male and 1,349 female aspirants for member of Sangguniang Barangay.
In Davao de Oro, with 237 barangays, there are 476 male and 105 female aspirants for Punong Barangay. For members of Sangguniang Barangay aspirants, 18,582 are male and 7,007 are female.
In Davao del Norte, with 223 barangays, a total of 501 male and 101 female aspirants for Punong Barangay and 3,809 male and 1,407 female aspirants for members of Sangguniang Barangay.
In Davao Occidental, with 105 barangays, there are 189 male and 70 female aspirants for Punong Barangay and 1,579 male and 480 female aspirants for members of Sangguniang Barangay.
In Davao del Sur, with 232 barangays, there are a total of 462 males and 113 female aspirants for Punong Barangay and 3,415 male and 1,377 female aspirants for members of Sangguniang Barangay.
In Davao Oriental, with 183 barangays, there are a total of 339 male and 103 female aspirants for Punong Barangay and 2,810 male and 1,042 female aspirants for member of Sangguniang Barangay.
For the SK aspirants, in Davao de Oro, a total of 392 male and 209 female aspirants for chairperson of SK (CSK) and 1,870 male and 1,388 female aspirants for member of Sangguniang Kabataan (MSK).
In Davao del Norte there’s a total of 416 male and 216 female aspirants for CSK and a total of 1,944 male and 1,616 female aspirants for MSK.
In Davao City, a total of 272 male and 221 female aspirants for CSK and a total of 1,327 male and 1,178 female aspirants for MSK.
In Davao Occidental, a total of 202 male and 74 female aspirants for CSK and a total of 567 male and 405 female aspirants for MSK.
In Davao del Sur, a total of 383 male and 202 female aspirants for CSK and 1,822 male and 1,465 female aspirants for MSK.
In Davao Oriental, a total of 308 male and 155 female aspirants for CSK and 1,370 male and 1,124 female aspirants for MSK.
“We were happy na wala nagdagsa ang mga tao on the last day unlike in registration nga nasanay ang mga tao nga on the last day sila mag-adto. But for the filing of the COC sa first day sila nag-adto most probably because pang fung shui ba, 828,” Enumerables said during the Kapihan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao on Monday.
Enumerables reminded candidates that premature campaigning will not be tolerated, beginning from the day of COC filing until before the official campaign period from Oct. 19 to 28.
“Our chair is very aggressive to file cases on those who are practicing premature campaigning. It is an election offense and is criminal in nature, they might get jailed or disqualified,” she said.
