Senator Mark Villar expressed confidence that former president Rodrigo Duterte, whom he called “my boss,” is innocent and can explain all the accusations fired at him.
Villar arrived in Davao City on Thursday to attend the opening of the National Cacao Congress 2023 where he was one of the guest speakers at SM Lanang Premier’s SMX Convention Center.
Villar told the media that he is 100 percent supporting the former president after the latter was summoned by the City Prosecutor of Quezon City to answer allegations of grave threats filed against him by ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro.
“I’m fully supporting former president Rodrigo Duterte. I’m sure kayang kaya niyang ipaliwanag and I’m very confident that the former president is very capable of facing the charges kasi innocent naman talaga siya. As always, he has my full support. I am very confident na yung mga accusations sa kanya ay kayang kaya niyang sagutin,” Villar told the Davao media.
The Villar family is known to be a close ally of the former president and his family.
“My boss, sir makakaasa po kayo na ako po ay 100 percent full support and we have our confidence all the time. Wishing you all the best as always,” Villar said.
Villar also extended his expression of support to Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, who is also being attacked by the opposition due to her confidential funds (CF).
In a recent interview with the Davao media, the vice president bared that the political side of their family is going through a rough patch.
“It is true that the political side of our family is going through a rough patch right now. Para lang masabtan sa mga tawo, lahi ang pulitika, lahi ang trabaho,” the vice president said.
Villar assured that the Dutertes can always count on the support of his family.
“Kay VP, she can always makakaasa sa suporta ko at sa pamilya namin. I know the vice president has very good intentions and if there is a rough patch now, I am sure she can pass it with flying colors,” he said.
