A total of 48 citation tickets were issued by the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to violators of the new Speed Limit Ordinance of Davao City on the first day of its implementation on Thursday.

DCPO-TEU operatives led by Major Dexter S. Domingo conducted monitoring of the implementation of the City Ordinance 0270-23 series of 2023 or the new Speed Limit Ordinance of Davao City along Quimpo Boulevard and at the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road.

The new Speed Limit Ordinance of Davao City sets new speed limits for the roads and streets in Davao City. Violators will face a fine of P1,000 for the first offense, P2,000 for the second, and P5,000 for the third and final offense.

TEU reported that the activity concluded at about noon with no untoward incident happened.

DCPO said the success of the first day’s implementation indicated that the information dissemination carried out by DCPO-TEU, City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), Land Transportation Office-Davao (LTO-Davao), and other units, particularly with the assistance of tri-media posting, announcing, and airing the new speed limit in the city, had a significant impact on informing the public.

It can be recalled that CTTMO dedicated the whole month of December last year on signage installations and distribution of new speed limit fliers to inform and educate the motorists.
