The said ordinance covers all types of motor vehicles driven within the territorial jurisdiction of Davao City and the drivers, operators, and registered car owners.

Major Dexter Domingo, chief of TEU, said that they will be using two-speed guns for the 50 kph for the trucks and 80 kph for private vehicles and the motorcycle speed limit in the Buda area.

Under the new ordinance, the speed limit is 80 kph for private and public utility vehicles (PUVs) and 50 kph for trucks from Bunawan up to Lasang; 50 kph for trucks and 80 kph for private and PUVs from Lacson, Calinan up to the boundary of Buda in Marilog; 50 kph for the trucks and 80 kph for private and PUVs Carabao monument in Toril up to the boundary of Binugao, Sta. “Magmonitor kami sa Buda, Diversion Road, and coastal road. Ang bibitbitin ng traffic enforcers sa lugar na ito ay dalawang camera (speed gun with camera) para sa 50 kph at 60 kph. We will be staying there two to three hours to ensure safety kasi malalaking trucks ang dumadaan doon. Mag-o-operate din tayo sa schools, malls, churches, busy streets at meron na tayong designated speed limit sa mga areas nay an,” Domingo said during the AFP-PNP Press Corps media briefing at the Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday.

Domingo is appealing to the public to follow the new speed ordinance to avoid getting violation tickets as violators will face a fine of P1,000 for the first offense, P2,000 for the second, and P5,000 for the third and final offense.

“Masakit sa aming kalooban na mag isyu ng tickets pero kung kailangan dahil marami matitigas ang ulo gagawin namin yun. That is why I am appealing to the public sundin natin ang speed limit na binigay sa ordinance,” he said.
