Rep. Pulong bares 2023 House accomplishments

Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte of the First Congressional District of Davao City has consistent demonstrated a strong commitment to enhance people’s welfare as seen from his most recent accomplishment report in the House of Representatives.

Rep. Pulong is on his second term as
Member of the lower house. He was elected on May 9 in the 2022 national polls and served the first term in the same position in May 2019.

The Dabawenyo lawmaker has authored 78 House Bills and 12 resolutions. Among the significant bills he authored were House Bills 07360, 09423, 09682, 07687, 09095, 09320, and 09021.

Rep. Pulong released on January 13, 2024, his accomplishment report covering the period from January to December 2023, highlighting the Pulong Pulong ni Pulong (PPP) Mobile Kitchen, which provided hot porridge and lunch to 7,050 underprivileged communities, including victims of floods and fires.

He also led the distribution of food packs and cash assistance to 5,421 fisherfolk in Davao City who had difficulty fishing during the rainy and closed seasons. His office aimed to improve the food supply of families affected by climate change.

Rep. Pulong’s office helped 25,272 patients and 963 senior citizens at Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), 1,290 cancer patients, and 18,205 patients in private hospitals. He also aided 4,540 families that needed burial assistance.

He assisted 1,512 fire victims, 1,999 flood victims, 31 landslide victims, and three storm surge victims per family.

As to education, Rep. Pulong supported 808 colleges and 137 Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) scholars, 30 medicine postgraduates, and six law school postgraduates.

He also highlighted success in social services, such as medical and burial assistance, emergency response, educational support, Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and infrastructure.

Rep. Pulong assisted 13,852 identified recipients of the TUPAD program with the DOLE and 3,617 recipients of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

His office has provided 33 roving motorcycles for barangay police to ensure peace and order in the First District of Davao City.

A total of 2,962 beneficiaries, covering all barangay nutrition scholars and health workers of the First District, received one year of indemnity insurance privilege.

His office also accommodated 600 solicitations and gave 48 tents, 288 wheelchairs, 28 nebulizers, 26 walkers, eight crutches, and 74 solar streetlights.

Rep. Pulong also announced the ongoing construction of Davao Coastal Road and the 800-meter Ma-a Flyover.

The lawmaker’s advocacy for sustainable development has earned him the title of “Honorary Congressman of the Year” (green category) during the Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards in December 2023.

Rep. Pulong was also conferred the Leadership Achiever as Public Servant citation in the Elite Business and Leadership Awards 2023 for his genuine commitment to public service.
