Davao City’s Central 911 was elevated to Hall of Fame for Best Government Emergency Medical Services during the 22nd Gawad KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) Special Awards for the Best Government Emergency Management Response Team Category by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The plaque was handed over to the city government of Davao by the Office of the Civil Defense Region 11 (OCD 11) director Ednar Dayanghirang during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday.
The Gawad KALASAG is considered the highest award given to local government units in the country that have shown notable disaster risk reduction and management response, as well as humanitarian assistance programs.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head Alfredo Baloran told the media that the recoginition will boost the morale of the 911 personnel who are working 24/7.
“This will give high morale sa mga tao who are working on the ground, working 24 hours, ulan ug init, doing their tasks to help people in need of emergency response,” Baloran said.
Baloran attributed the recognition on the good practices of Central 911 such as quick emergency response.
“Ato gyud ginapraktis ang quick response. Kung adunay calls kinahanglan mahatag gyud dayon nato ang atong tabang ug maadtuan dayon nato ang nangayo ug emergency response,” Baloran said.
He also credited the dedication of the personnel to their tasks for the said recognition.
“Maskin kompleto ka sa resources kung ang imong mga tao dili sila dedicated mu-trabaho dili gihapon namo na ma-achieve,” he said.
Baloran said the award is dedicated to the Central 911 personnel for their dedication to providing Dabawenyos with reliable emergency response services.
“We dedicate this award to the people. Dili namo ni ma-achieve kung walay support from the local chief executive. This award is very prestigious since this is the first time nga naay Hall of Fame sa city government emergency response awarded by the NDRRMC,” he said.
