DCPO urges Dabawenyos, tourists to adhere to Araw celebration guidelines

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) urged the Dabawenyos, visitors, and tourists attending the events of this year’s Araw ng Dabaw celebration to adhere to guidelines to prevent any untoward incidents.

Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte led the opening of the 87th Araw ng Dabaw dubbed “Pasiugdang Pagsaulog” held at San Pedro Square on Friday evening, which was attended by about 10,000 spectators.

“The security and safety clusters continuously sought the cooperation and assistance of Dabawenyos, visitors, and tourists attending the events, urging them to adhere to guidelines to prevent any untoward incidents,” DCPO said.

DCPO also said that the security coverage for the opening of the 87th Araw ng Dabaw was generally peaceful.

The mayor delivered a message of unity and respect among the Dabawenyos during the opening.

Ang atong pagrespeto sa isig katao this is what keeps us together as Dabawenyos,” Duterte said.

Meanwhile, the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) reminded the same security restrictions implemented during the celebration such as no bringing of backpacks and big bags, no laser lights, no bomb jokes, no firearms, and no littering.

Bringing sharp objects, drinking alcoholic beverages, and smoking in public places are also prohibited.

Dabawenyos are advised not to bring infants and small children during any event and are also advised to take off their jackets and sunglasses upon going through inspection areas.

All the official Araw ng Dabaw activities are posted on the Araw ng Dabaw Facebook page, the City Government of Davao page, and the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) page.
