State weather bureau PAGASA announced the start of the warm and dry season and the end of the northeast monsoon or amihan season on Friday.
An increase in air temperatures was observed in many parts of the country and the agency said the number of dry and warm days would increase in the coming months.
However, isolated thunderstorms are still likely, especially in the afternoon or evening.
Since 2019, the onset of the dry season was declared on the third or fourth week of March.
PAGASA added the significant reduction in the normal rainfall or drier conditions would continue due to the ongoing El Niño, which could lead to dry spells and droughts in most parts of the country.
The agency advised the public and government agencies to continue practicing measures to minimize heat stress, optimize water consumption, and prevent potential health impacts of the warm weather.
