Authorities early Wednesday morning arrested 27 individuals for stealing copper wires from a telecommunications company.

Personnel from the City Special Operations Group, City Mobile Force Company, Sta. Ana Police Station, Talomo Police Station, and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) SWAT team launched a covert operation after reports of missing PLDT copper wires which led to the apprehension of the suspects, wherein 13 of them are from Manila, Quezon City and Novaliches.

The suspects were caught in the act of conspiring and conniving to steal approximately 20 kilos of copper wires along McArthur Highway, Quimpo Boulevard, Davao City.

The operating teams recovered cutting materials and the truck used as a getaway and storage vehicle.

Currently, the arrested individuals and the pieces of evidence have been turned over to Sta. Ana Police Station and the Special Operations Group (SOG) for proper disposition.

Cases against the suspects are being prepared for filing.

DCPO warned individuals involved in this illegal activity to stop doing this illegal activity.

“We urge all Dabawenyos to report any suspicious activities observed in their areas to safeguard our city,” DCPO said in a statement.
