7,524 jobs up for grabs in Labor Day job fair

Some 7,524 job vacancies will be available in the upcoming job fairs around the Davao Region in line with the 122nd Labor Day on May 1.

Lawyer Randolf Pensoy, regional director of DOLE 11, announced on Monday that the job fairs will be held in three sites: Davao City at SM City Davao, Tagum City at Gaisano Mall of Tagum, and Digos City at Gaisano Grand Mall.

“There are 7,524 job vacancies registered for filling of any positions and the employers’ participating as of now we have 105 employers wherein 97 are locals and eight overseas,” he said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao.

The top 10 job vacancies for local are customer service representative with 1,518 job vacancies; sales representative with 503; sales associate/clerk with 222; technical support, 152; cashier, 108; merchandiser, 98; accounting staff, 88; promodiser, 85; kitchen staff, 62; sales specialist, 62; and helper, 57.

The top 5 job vacancies overseas are cleaners with 290 vacancies; factory workers, 160; nurses, 155; sales, 110; and shelving worker/merchandiser, 100.

The participating employers per industry are administrative and support service activities, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and motorcycles; manufacturing, financial and insurance activities, accommodation and food service activities, overseas placement, construction, transportation and storage, human health and social work activities, education, agriculture, forestry, fishing, information and communication, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply.

Pensoy said the Labor Day celebration is always meaningful for DOLE.

“That is why we are doing our very best, through collective effort, collaboration, and a shared commitment to progress, highlighting the importance of unity to achieve thriving and progressive advancements in labor and employment throughout the region,” he said.

Meanwhile, the DOLE 11 will also distribute more than P246 million in financial assistance through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) or Kabuhayan program and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

A total of 3,427 DILP beneficiaries will be granted support for livelihood ventures worth P47,494,980.80, while 20,022 TUPAD beneficiaries will receive compensation for their 10-day community work amounting to P198,952,631.
