Davao City to experience heat, cloudy skies this week

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office urged Dabawenyos to be always ready for ever-changing weather conditions, underscoring that the high heat index is still forecasted for the week amid cloudy skies intervals.

CDRRMO head Alfredo Baloran, in an interview with Madayaw on Monday, said that the public is still advised to stay hydrated.

“Ang Davao City naa’y mga cloudy skies but ang forecast sa atong heat index is maabot paman gud siya og 40 or more, especially during peak hours from 9 am-3 pm (Davao City is experiencing cloudy skies but based on the forecast, our heat index will still reach 40 or more, especially during the peak hours from 9 am to 3 pm),” Baloran said.

He added that so far, their office has yet to receive reports about cramps and stroke incidents due to the high heat index.

In the meantime, Baloran said that in preparation for La Niña season, the CDRRMO is currently in the process of calibrating and installing river cameras, coastal cameras, and sirens for flood warnings.

As to when the La Niña will start, Baloran said the weather transition was forecast to be felt by the end of May. CIO.
