Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Col. Richard Bad-ang said on Friday that DNA testing from the blood stains collected from the elevator and the sixth and seventh floors of the condominium building is being conducted to help solve the murder case of Jeff Predas and his girlfriend, Jennifer Chavez.
Chavez and Predas were found dead at a condominium building along J.P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City on April 21, 2024.
Bad-ang said during the reenactment, police found bloodstains in room 323, elevator, and sixth and seventh floors. He said these bloodstains are subject to DNA testing to match if these belonged to Chavez and Predas.
“Ito ay ang mga bloodstains sa elevator, 6th and 7th floors, sa towel sa room 323, it seems na may bloodstains sa sapatos na gamit ni “Clark” (POI 1). These are all subject for DNA testing. So, if mag-positive, we will possibly file a case against the persons of interests,” Bad-ang said.
DCPO has disclosed two persons of interest (POIs) who are residents of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.
“Definitely, kung may link sa POIs, kasi may blood stain na na-recover sa room nila at kung mag match with the bloodstain sa room definitely the POIs know something or sila yung perpetrators kasi alam natin kung sinong nagpapasok kay Jennifer diyan is si POI 1 na si Clark,” Bad-ang said.
Bad-ang said “Clark” booked the units 319 and 323 on April 6, 2024. He added that Chavez booked her ticket on March 18, 2024, while Predas booked his ticket on April 16, 2024.
“It seems na humabol lang ng Davao itong si Jeff,” he added.
Bad-ang did not give more details but said they are looking at a love triangle as the motive of the murder.
He also confirmed that Chavez and Predas were killed while sleeping. He also said that Predas was already dead when thrown to the ground floor of the building.
“Pinatay talaga sila. Pinatay din si Jeffrey bago hinulog. Ang theory namin they were killed while sleeping. Kasi may defense wounds si Jennifer and mas maraming defense wounds si Jeff. Kasi makita mo ang mga sugat sa kamay doon sa autopsy these are not suicide wounds or self-inflicted wounds. Iba kasi yung cut. Traces ito ng defense wounds,” Bad-ang said.
Bad-ang said Predas was deliberately dropped to mislead the investigation. He also said it seemed that someone directed the crime scene to look like suicide.
“But the autopsy will not deny the fact na before siya nahulog patay na siya. Nandoon lang din sa room 319 ang bladed weapons. May planong i-tamper ang crime scene kasi malinis, walang traces of commotion, walang traces na may gulo na mga gamit,” he said.
He also said that based on the autopsy the crime happened night of April 20.
Bad-ang disclosed that Chavez didn’t even go to the concert.
“According to Clark pumasok sila loob at naghiwalay after taking their dinner sa may Bajada, 8 pm pumasok na si Jenny sa kanyang kuwarto, wala na hindi na siya nakita then lumabas sila Clark at si Ivan (POI 2) kumain daw ulit. Naglakad daw sila from Camella Northpoint sa Jollibee sa may Victoria Plaza,” he said.
Bad-ang said they also released the POIs because the police could not connect them to the fingerprinting. He also said the 36 hours to hold them have lapsed already.
