Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte said he is willing to take a drug test but said in jest that he would have someone with him.
“Walang problema yan, pero gusto ko may isasama ako,” he said in an interview with SMNI’s Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa on Wednesday.
Duterte said this after he was asked if he would support a law requiring public officials to take a drug test.
“Sakto yan, dapat lang yan,” he said.
When asked if such a law is possible, he said it depends on the legislature.
“Pero maganda yun para alam ng lahat na yung mga nakaupo diyan na they’re serious, pero sa totoo lang personal na buhay nila yan at wala tayong pakialam diyan pero mas gusto ko lang na ganon kasi pag sabog yung tao, wala yan,” he said.
It can be recalled that in January this year, former president Rodrigo Duterte dared President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to undergo a drug test in public to prove that he was not a drug user.
The former president called Marcos a drug addict during the Hakbang ng Maisug prayer rally in Davao City on January 28 this year.
Meanwhile, the mayor has declared war against illegal drugs on March 22, 2024 and told those involved in illegal drugs to leave Davao City.
