DA 12 provides corn seeds, fertilizers to M’lang farmers

Three hundred fifty-five corn farmers from the town of M’lang, Province of Cotabato received corn seeds and fertilizers in the joint distribution activity of the provincial government of Cotabato and the Department of Agriculture 12 (DA 12) held at the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) on May 17, 2024.

At least P4,638,785 worth of seed and fertilizer was allocated by the national government for the said town under the Corn Production Enhancement Project CY 2024, which aims to reduce the expenses of the beneficiaries in their farming.

The distribution activity, which is part of the united goal of the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr., was led by Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza and Cotabato Province Third District Representative Ma. Alana Samantha T. Santos, in collaboration with the offices of DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. and DA 12 Regional Executive Director Roberto T. Perales, to help needy farmers in the province and across the country to alleviate their expenses in sustaining their livelihood.

“I thanked the DA especially President Marcos for the support he is giving to our farmers,” Mendoza said.

Meanwhile, under Ms. Mendoza’s Corn Production Program, it supported 12,351 corn farmers through the distribution of 2,000 bags of GM corn seeds worth P9 million.

The DA-RFO 12 also allocated P192,816,724 for the aforementioned program including the distribution of 20,702 bags of inorganic fertilizers, 51,755 packs of Bio-N fertilizers, and 21 units of farm machinery to various corn farmers associations.

‘We are committed in implementing comprehensive programs for our farmers and turning this commitment into reality is our priority,” Mendoza said.
