The Davao Fil-Chinese Multi-Sectoral Association handed over a donation of 500 luggage trolleys to the Davao International Airport (DIA) on Monday.
The turnover ceremony, which was graced by Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, Chinese Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Davao and Davao City’s Fil-Chinese businessmen, was held at the VIP lounge of DIA.
The trolleys are designed to be durable and reliable, ensuring that travelers can easily transport their luggage.
The initiative aims to enhance the convenience and comfort of passengers and improve the overall efficiency and reputation of DIA.
Engineer Rex A. Obcena, airport manager and acting general manager of CAAP Area Center 11, said the push carts are big help as these will facilitate a very welcoming atmosphere in DIA.
He also thanked the mayor for facilitating the donation of the push carts.
“Thank you Mayor Duterte for being our bridge to our Filipino-Chinese friends. In times of trouble, we can count on the help of our Chinese friends,” Obcena said.
Duterte said the turnover ceremony serves as a testament of the joint effort of the city government of Davao and the private sector to improve the services and the overall state of DIA.
“This is vital as the airport is the first public infrastructure that visitors utilized. It is important to give them as well as our residents a pleasant and convenient airport experience,” the mayor said.
Duterte said the new trolleys can give residents and tourists from different parts of the world a truly warm Dabawenyo welcome and send-off.
“It is this act of generosity by our stakeholders that provide us the momentum in our ongoing pursuit of positioning the city as one of the main tourism and investment destinations in the country,” Duterte said.
The Davao Fil-Chinese Multi-Sectoral Association represents the Filipino-Chinese community in Davao City.
The association aims to foster unity, cooperation, and collaboration among its members across various sectors.
