The quest to discover talented Dabawenyos through Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte’s Sing-Along ni Pulong 2024 swings to the city’s second district.
Led by Barangay Captain Omar Vincent S. Duterte, the 29th Araw ng Buhangin culmination night held at the barangay gym on May 12 was highlighted by the singing competition.
Charlotte Cena, after besting 15 other contestants, emerged as victorious. She brought home P10,000 cash prize for her top performance.
Completing the top three were first runner-up Paul Anthony Anub, who bagged P5,000, and second runner-up Christian Jay Deocampo, who took home P3,000. The rest of of the contestants received P1,500 each.
Cena expressed her gratitude to the Almighty God, Captain Omar Duterte, and the entire barangay for organizing the event and to her supporters during the competition.
Each contestant was judged based on voice quality: tonality and technique (50 percent); style and performance: rendition qualities, discipline, timing, and precision; delivery and interpretation (30 percent); and overall impact: stage presence, audience impact, and costume (20 percent).
The grand finalists were evaluated by the panel of judges from the office of Rep. Duterte, Rep. Vincent Garcia, Councilor Dante Apostol, Councilor Richlyn “Che Che” Justol, Councilor Marissa Abella, and Councilor Diosdado Angelo Mahipus Jr.
Out of the 57 contestants who auditioned at the DMMA College of Southern Philippines on May 7, only 16 contestants competed in the grand finals.
Duterte thanked the residents, government officials, and employees, especially his father, Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, for their full support that made the 29th Araw ng Barangay Buhangin successful.
“Thank you very much for attending the event of First District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, who has greatly supported our barangay. Thank you, everyone, for coming and enjoying our fiesta. I had a great time; our people are incredibly talented,” he said in a local dialect.
Meanwhile, Duterte encouraged those with hidden talent/s to join the Sing-Along ni Pulong next year.
He said that joining the singing competition is a good start whenever there is an opportunity to showcase their talent in singing, make new friends, and help boost their confidence.
