Department of Tourism 11 (DOT 11) director Tanya Rabat-Tan expressed enthusiasm over the opportunities that the 7th Philippine Building and Construction Exposition (PHILBEX) and the Travel and Leisure Expo (TLEX) can bring to the Davao Region.
PHILBEX and TLEX 2024 kicked off at SM Lanang Premier’s SMX Convention Center on Thursday.
Rabat-Tan said TLEX can help bolster tourism through the promotion of the region’s destinations and other tourism-related offerings.
“We are certain that more than its capacity to stimulate high gains and foster networks, surely the impact of these expos will create a multiplier effect that benefits communities and the industries of business, construction, trade, and tourism. Further, this can also be a great platform to help bolster tourism through the promotion of the region’s destinations and other tourism-related offerings,” Rabat-Tan said.
Rabat-Tan also said that apart from being known as the primary gateway of Mindanao, Davao has also been a source of pride for it is home to vibrant cultures, friendly communities, diverse culinary offerings, and a wide range of attractions that stretch from islands to highlands.
She added that Davao has been identified as among the three key MICE (meetings incentives conferences and exhibitions) destinations in the Philippines as it also boasts an assortment of venues and accommodations, from world-class hotels and resorts to locally managed inns and homestays.
“With all this afforded in the region and given the occurrence of continuous positive developments, Davao became a destination notable for its power to attract many major national and international events and lure potential businesses and investments,” she said.
The TLEX is participated by some of the premier hotels and resorts in the Davao Region.
PHILBEX and TLEX are the regional events established by Worldbex Services International (WSI), which brings quality expositions to regional areas of the Philippines.
PHILBEX 2024, which will run until May 12, 2024, brings in the latest technology and brands in the building and design industry.
A total of 250 brands/exhibitors for PHILBEX and TLEX, local and international, such as China, Taiwan, Japan, Europe, and America are expected to introduce their technologies in building and design during the event seen to attract 80,000 visitors.
