The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) is gearing up for the opening of Davao City’s newest festival in the summer, Duaw Davao Festival, which will kick off on June 21 to 30, 2024.
Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, chair of the Committee of Tourism, said as per CTOO the city government of Davao allocated a budget of P15 million for the festival.
The newest addition to the lineup of celebrations and festivals of Davao City, Duaw Davao aims to showcase the city’s diverse attractions and musical festivities.
There are four pillars that serve as the foundation of the Duaw Davao Festival: Duaw ta sa Davao Turismo, which highlights travel discounts and Davao specialties; Duaw ta sa Davao Music and Colors, which will highlight music fest and art appreciation; Duaw ta sa Davao Lifestyle and Leisure, which aims to show that Davao City is not just a vacation spot but a lifestyle filled with shopping, dining, and leisure; and Duaw ta sa Fiesta sa San Pedro, which is for the commemoration of a lot of celebrated things in San Pedro Street.
There will be road closure for two events, the Duaw Davao Pride Parade and the and Fiesta sa San Pedro Paghiusayaw.
For Duaw sa Davao Pride Parade, road closure will begin at 4 p.m. on June 23 from Roxas Avenue going to San Pedro St. and for the Fiesta sa San Pedro Paghiusayaw, road closure will begin at 4 p.m. on June 29 in San Pedro Square.
“It is worth noting that the Duaw Davao Festival was previously known as the Davao Visit Fun Sale and later the Davao Summer Fest, bringing joy and excitement to our city until it was paused before the pandemic. Now with the initiative of the City Tourism Operations Office, we’re bringing it back in a grander and more inclusive format, poised to offer even more excitement and opportunities for everyone to experience,” said Alejandre in his privilege speech on Tuesday.
