Police Regional Director Brigadier General Aligre Martinez gave his assurance on Friday that the Davao police will not stop eradicating the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region.
“Makakaasa ang ating mga mamamayan sa Davao na hindi titigil ang inyong kapulisan sa pagpuksa ng paglaganap ng iligal na droga. Hinihikayat namin ang publiko na makipagtulungan sa mga kinauukulan upang matigil na ang kalakalan ng iligal na droga,” Martinez said.
In a statement, PRO 11 assured that the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and uphold public safety in Davao City remains unwavering.
On Thursday, the Davao City Forensic Unit intercepted an undetermined amount and weight of shabu with an estimated standard street value of P14,400,000 and a standard drug price of P6 million.
Based on the report of the Calinan Police Station, the said shabu was discarded by an unidentified passenger during the conduct of inspection while passengers of the Rural Tour bus were stepping down from the said bus.
The suspect went to the rear end of the bus, tore off his carried box took a small box, and threw it behind the bus.
The ensuing commotion caused panic among passengers and residents living nearby.
A joint hot pursuit operation is still ongoing.
In compliance with section 21 of Republic Act 9165, tagging; marking; and physical inventory was conducted at the place of discovery in the presence of the required witnesses.
PRO 11 underscored that the efforts to eradicate the presence of illicit drugs from the streets underscore the dedication of authorities to safeguard the welfare of residents and maintain law and order in the region.
In its intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign in the Davao Region, PRO 11 conducted a total of seven drug-related operations, which resulted in the arrest of nine individuals and the confiscation of P28,968 worth of narcotic substances.
