Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, encouraged all college graduates of the Philippine College of Technology Inc. to remain optimistic and committed even in the face of the most challenging times ahead.

Rep. Pulong, guest speaker during the 31st commencement exercises of PCT on June 21, 2024, was represented by his son Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, told around 200 graduates of various courses to prepare what life awaits them.

The lawmaker underlined how vast and boundless life is outside of the institute. He stated that every graduate needs to be prepared to face any obstacles that may arise from the highs and lows of the future.

“Do not be afraid to encounter the downs in life. Setbacks are part of life. The way you deal with these events is what matters most. Remember that success comes from effort and development, not from being gifted,” Rep. Pulong said.

Rep. Pulong also inspired the graduates to think of Confucious teachings whenever they face trials. Quoting Confucius, he said: “Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in getting up every time we do.”

As he congratulated the PCT Class of 2024, Rep. Pulong urged them to leave the academy with an abundance of enthusiasm, tenacity, devotion, endurance, and hard work. He said that with these qualities their future will have a particular position in this rapidly changing world.

Rep. Pulong expressed his profound gratitude to PCT officials, faculty, and employees for continuously making such a prestigious institution a better place to learn. He also congratulated all the graduates’ parents.

The graduation ceremony carries the theme “The Future is Ours.”
