VP Sara calls on law enforcers to respect civilians, children in serving arrest warrant

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte called on law enforcement agencies to respect ordinary citizens, especially the children, in implementing arrest warrants as the stigma of such an ordeal can impact hard on their lives.

“Ang general na panawagan sa tanang law enforcement agencies kung mag implement ta ug arrest warrant or search warrrant let us make sure that we respect the ordinary civilians and ordinary citizens especially ang mga bata because kanang trauma sa ingon ana sa pag implement lang sa simpleng warrant of arrest wala ta kabalo kung unsa ang epekto sa ilahang pagdako,” Duterte said on the sidelines of the 126th Independence Day commemoration held at Rizal Park in Davao City on Wednesday.

The vice president was one of those who called for proper, acceptable, and humane enforcement of the law and promotion of justice in the country following the chaotic execution of arrest warrants against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and five others on Monday caused by alleged use of excessive force in front of civilians.

“Sa ating pagpapairal ng batas, huwag nating kalimutan ang kaligtasan ng lahat, lalo na ng mga sibilyan, at mahalagang matiyak na malayo sa panganib ang mga kabataan. Huwag din sana nating kalimutan na ang pandarahas sa ating mga mamamayan ay paglapastangan sa ating demokrasya. Sana ay mapanatili natin ang respeto, kaayusan, at kapayapaan sa ating bansa,” the vice president said in a statement.

She also urged Dabawenyos and the entire Filipino people to always remain calm, and all be united in praying for truth and justice.
