P59M allocated for this year’s Kadayawan sa Davao

City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) Officer-In-Charge Jennifer Romero disclosed on Thursday that the Executive Committee (Execom) of Kadayawan sa Davao Festival has decided to stage this year the Pamulak and the Indak Indak sa Kadayawan, two of the major highlights of annual showpiece, on the same day on August 18, 2024.

Romero said among the factors considered is to manage the traffic accordingly.

She also disclosed that this year’s festival budget is worth P59 million.

According to Romero, from that figure, P11 million comes from the sponsorship of the private sector while P48 million is from the city government of Davao, which was approved through the Annual Development Fund.

“Ang atoang budget for this year is almost the same as last year plus the amount coming from our sponsorship. Naa ta sa P59 million including na ang sponsorships, which is almost P11 million and the rest is from the city approved through Annual Development Fund,” Romero said.

She said this year’s budget is a bit lower than last year’s P65 million budget.

She clarified that this is due to a lower contribution from the private sector, however, she pointed out that the city government’s budget is unchanged from the previous year.

“As advised Sunday would be a very good day na maghold ta ug event because lesser ang atoang flow sa cars within the city. Second, ang atoang gusto mahitabo is we wanted to comply this para it would be more vibrant, festive, and everybody should visit the streets,” Romero said during the Kadayawan sa Davao Mediacon at Rogen Inn Davao.

Romero also said that they wanted to highlight the Pamulak and Indak Indak in one day to also signal a very good closing of the last day of the Kadayawan sa Davao Festival.

“Ang atong Pamulak ug Indak Indak in the morning, ato siyang pagabuhaton in the street parade, if ever you will miss the street parade in the morning puwede pa sila makatan-aw sa Indak-Indak because the showdown will happen in the afternoon towards the evening,” she explained.

Romero said the street parade will commence at six in the morning and end at noon.

Romero also said that there are 49 accredited sports activities for this year and two non-sports.

“Naa pa’y madagdag of at least 10 to 15 sports activities. For the two non-sports activities, ang isa ani is the circus that will open on August 1,” she said.
