Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Director Brigadier General Nicholas Torre III said there is no truth to an information that he is set to file charges against more than 100 police personnel in Davao Region saying it is still under evaluation.
“Evaluation pa lang tayo. Nasa evaluation phase pa tayo. Basta tayo ay nag-eevaluate ng lahat ng performance ng mga tao. I will not give the figure basta under evaluation pa ang lahat na ginagawa ng mga tao. Di ko pa alam kung ilan yan sila,” Torre told Edge Davao.
Torre said the police personnel are being evaluated based on their past performances and past actions in all of their operations.
Earlier this month, Torre relieved 19 station commanders under the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and reassigned them to different areas in Davao region.
During his appearance before the City Council two weeks ago, Torre said the mass relief of Davao City police officials, including the changing of the chief of police of the city, were orders from Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil.
Torre said the changing of police city director was triggered by his letter to Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte on July 2 asking the mayor to choose from three names he sent to him in accordance with the rules and regulations of Napolcom.
Torre added that during the interim he was told to replace Patay with an Officer-In-Charge, which led to the appointment of Col. Sherwin Butil.
“However, I was not privy to the process at the national headquarters, and after a few hours I designated Col. Butil, and before he was given the chance to assume his position, there was already an order designating Col. Hansel Marantan as Davao City acting Chief of Police which is based on the order of the chief of PNP exercising his power under Section 26 of RA 6975,” Torre said.
