Despite facing challenges, Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte of the First Congressional District of Davao City continues to exhibit a strong dedication to improving the lives of constituents, as seen at his accomplishments in the first half of the year in the House of Representatives (HOR).
The Office of the First Congressional District released on Tuesday Rep. Pulong’s accomplishments from January to June this year highlighting the five principal bills and two House Resolutions he authored.
Among these are House Bill 09506 or an act of providing for the establishment of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Hubs in each barangay to serve as SK officers and activity center; House Resolution 01745 or a resolution directing the appropriate House committees to investigate in aid of legislation in coordination with the relevant government agencies and bodies, such as but not limited to the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Department of Interior and Local Government Units (LGUs) and their respective Local Chief Executives particularly the cities of Manila, Cebu, Quezon, and all those who are identified to have involved or has an alleged history of cases of extrajudicial killings and possible human rights violations in their respective areas or responsibilities for a period covering the last 25 years until the present; House Bill 10064 or an act establishing a system protecting the Community Intellectual Rights of Indigenous Cultural Communities or the Indigenous People (IP).
Rep. Pulong also underlined House Bill 9999, an act to promote greening and forest land rehabilitation and protection at the barangay level, spurring local climate change action. appropriating funds therefore and for other purposes; and House Bill 09976 or an act providing death, disability, and accident insurance coverage to other barangay officials, barangay tanods, barangay health workers, barangay day care workers, and members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa, and increasing the insurance benefits provided therein amending for this purpose Republic Act No. 6942 and appropriating funds therefore.
Rep. Pulong also assisted 662 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program; ongoing construction of the coastal road and Ma-a bridge; and provided 50 roving motorcycles given to barangay police.
Rep. Pulong aided 11,700 individuals for their medical and burial assistance at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC); 5,707 in private hospitals; 1,706 for burial assistance; 774 cancer patients assisted; and provided 602 SPMC senior citizens with maintenance medicines.
The lawmaker also supported educational assistance to 800 college scholars, 24 post-graduate medicine, and six post-graduate Law school.
In terms of emergency response, Rep. Pulong helped 16,500 flood victims and 271 fire family victims.
Other services for the senior citizen’s associations, religious Muslim groups, solo parents associations, civic groups, professional associations, and individuals seeking assistance, Rep. Pulong provided 108 units of wheelchairs, distributed 123 solicitations; served 14,892 lugaw; distributed 24 tents; served 19,329 food packs; served 19,996 food packs with container; and distributed 7,837 pack lunch.
