Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa called on former Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel and urged them to voluntarily provide security and protection to Vice President Sara Duterte.
This developed after PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil ordered the relief of 75 PNP Police and Security Group personnel who were previously assigned for the vice president’s protection.
“Attention former PNP/AFP personnel who are good at unarmed combat and volunteering to provide security and protection to VP Inday Sara pls sound off! Bayanihan lang walang suweldo,” Dela Rosa posted on his Facebook page.
Department of National Defense Secretary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro recently issued a Department Circular No.13 removing the control of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) to Duterte with the inclusion of the unit under Presidential Security Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
According to reports, Marbil explained that he reduced Duterte’s police security because no threat against her had been observed.
Marbil ordered the transfer of 75 police officers from Duterte’s personal protection detail to other assignments, particularly in Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte asked Marbil why he only ordered the relief of the police personnel from Davao City.
“Kinahanglan niya (Marbil) ug pulis, 75 imong gipangita di ba? Tubaga na,” the mayor told the media during the Hakbang ng Maisug Rally in Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday.
