Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte said on Tuesday that malfunctioning traffic lights will be recalibrated along with the rollout of the Davao Bus System in Davao City.

The mayor explained during Episode 4 of “Basta Dabawenyo” that the traffic lights are packaged under the Davao Bus Project, which aims to provide a top-notch service to passengers, guaranteeing mobility and accessibility for the city’s expanding population and economy.

The project involves 29 routes that would link Davao City, Panabo City, and other parts of Davao del Norte.

Wala na sa wala ginaayo, it is not capable anymore, it’s not calibrated for the situation or the traffic that we have, the volume of cars that we have on the roads,” the mayor explained.

The mayor said he was saving the money because he does not want to spend it on projects that are working but not efficient.

“Huwat ta sa Davao Bus Project and I don’t think budgetan na sa Congress karon kay kontra man, well lets just hope for the best. But mu-roll out na kanang traffic lights together with the bus project para recalibrated siya along with the bus system that will be running aorund the city by the time. Mao nang mandatu karon,” Duterte said.

Meanwhile, Duterte assured the public that while is the mayor, he will ensure the safety of the Dabawenyos, which is among the goals of the ongoing dry run and installations of the speed traps along Diversion Road in Ma-a.

The city government of Davao is pilot testing the smart traffic enforcement (STE) or speed traps that could detect and capture violators of the speed limit, non-wearing of seatbelts, and anti-distracted driving will start soon.

Three STEs are being installed in three areas of the Diversion Road – Gap Farm, Crocodile Park, and Jade Valley.

Simple,” the mayor said.

Duterte advised the public to follow the rules on the road and practice being responsible.
