Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, Chairperson of the Committee of Finance, Ways, Means and Appropriations of the City Council, passed an ordinance extending calamity assistance worth P14.5 million to 27 local government units (LGUs) in Luzon that were extremely hit by Typhoon Carina, which was approved under the suspended rules during the regular session on Tuesday.
The ordinance authorized Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte to utilize a portion of the 30% Quick Response Fund (QRF) out of the 5% Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (DRRMF) of the city government of Davao for the calendar year 2024 in the total amount of P14,500,000.
The areas that have declared a state of calamity were the municipalities of San Mateo, Rizal; Baco, Oriental Mindoro; Macabebe, Pampanga; Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro; Bauang, La Union; Cainta, Rizal; Paombong, Bulacan; and San Andres, Romblon.
The cities affected by Typhoon Carina were San Juan, Quezon, Caloocan, Marikina, Manila, Navotas, Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, and Pasay.
Meanwhile, provinces hit hardest were Bataan, Rizal, Pampanga, Bulacan. Cavite, and Batangas.
