The Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) is not giving up on the mission to arrest evangelist Apollo Quiboloy despte repeated failures and much-criticized operations.
PRO 11 sokesperson Major Catherine dela Rey said on Wednesday that a new alias warrant of arrest will be implemented against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his four co-accused.
Dela Rey said they have no timeline as to the implementation of the warrant.
“We already have a warrant for Quiboloy and the co-accused. Ug naa tay implementation sa warrant of arrest but we have no timeline kasi mawawala lang ang implementation of warrant of arrest kung nag surrender si Quiboloy,” dela Rey said during the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps media briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
An alias warrant for arrest is issued when the original order is not executed or usually because the subject cannot be located.
The use of excessive force to implement a warrant of arrest on the charismatic evangelist have put the police authorities under heavy criticism from the public. Based on reactions on social media, Davao City residents frowned on the operations which many of them considered as an “overkill.”
PRO 11 Director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III confirmed during the Senate hearing on Tuesday that Quiboloy has an alias warrant of arrest issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court related to a human trafficking case.
The hearing concerns the alleged use of excessive force during the operation at the KOJC compound on June 10 wherein police and security forces attempted to apprehend Quiboloy and his co-accused at his properties including the KOJC compound, Tamayong in Barangay Calinan, and his property in the Island Garden City of Samal, but were unsuccessful.
“Ang panawagan natin kasi nahihirapan din kami sa paghuli kay Quiboloy and his co-accused kaya ang panawagan namin ay sana mag-surrender na siya at harapin ang kaso to prove his innocence na kini- claim niya,” dela Rey said.
The Pasig court initially ordered the arrest of Quiboloy and five others – Ingrid, Cresente, and Paulene Canada, Jackielyn Roy, and Sylvia Cemañes, for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, which is a non-bailable crime.
So far, the police were only able to arrest Paulene Canada.
