The launch of the “Taxi Stickers Campaign against Erring Taxi Drivers” held at City Hall grounds along San Pedro Street in Davao City on Tuesday signified that passengers can now immediately complain against erring drivers who overcharged, abusive, contracting, and refuse to render services to passengers.
City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) chief Dionisio Abude Jr. led the distribution of metered taxi stickers to taxi drivers and operators under the Regional Taxi Operators Association (RTOA) during the launching of the campaign.
At least 6,000 metered taxi stickers would be distributed to 5,400 registered taxi units in the city.
The campaign is initiated by the city government of Davao through the City Information Office (CIO) in cooperation with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board 11 (LTFRB 11), the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines-Davao (CAAP), and RTOA.
The metered taxi stickers, which are affixed on the dashboard and at the back of the front passenger’s seat, contain contact numbers that the passengers can call once they are being overcharged, contracted, refused, and experienced abusive drivers.
Abude said the launch of the metered taxi stickers is the response to the complaints and grievances that the commuters and passengers raised against drivers, particularly at the Davao International Airport (DIA).
“Namugna ni siya based sa mga complaints sa atong mga pasahero against sa mga drivers na dili maghimo ug maayo ug nakahatag ug dili maayong pangalan sa atong syudad. Ug ni come up ta aning metered taxi sticker ug ang purpose ani kay para ma-inform ang atong mga pasahero, dili lang ang taga Davao kundili apil tung mga bisita nga kanang ilang gisakyan na taxi dapat duna siya’y sticker aning metered taxi. Ug para makabalo sila kung asa sila mu-complain especially katong complaints sa overcharging ug contracting ug refuse to render service to passengers and other behaviors sa drivers na dili maayo,” Abude said.
Abude said with the availability of the metered taxi sticker, passengers and visitors are now well-informed about what numbers to call for their concerns and these concenrs can be addressed immediately.
