Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, second son of Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte and namesake of former President Rodrigo Duterte, officially launched his political career on Wednesday and bared he looks up to his father as his mentor.
Rigo filed his certificate of candidacy as councilor for the first district of Davao City accompanied by his father, his brother Omar, and his wife Yssa.
When asked what him decide to run, Rigo said that while helping the First Congressional District Office of Rep. Pulong, he realized the importance of serving the Dabawenyos.
Rigo added that he is ready to serve the Dabawenyos.
“Nag-istorya nami sa akong amahan, nagatabang naman ko sa pagtuyok sa mga barangay. Nagatabang na pud ko sa iyahang opisina so nag desisyon among pamilya nga mulansar ko sa pagka konsehal,” he said in an interview.
Meanwhile, Rep. Pulong emphasized to Rigo the value of gratitude for the support of the Dabawenyos to the Dutertes.
He advised Rigo to continue providing medical services and other services to the people of Davao City, particularly the needy.
“Total nakit-an naman niya ug five years naman siya sige ug tuyok sa opisina sa mga barangay, nakit-an niya ang kapait ug kalisod sa mga tao. Hinaut nga i-continue niya labi na ang kanang serbisyo medical, iyahang tabangan ang mga tao kay sama sa akong gisulti sa iyaha ang utang kabubut-on sa mga Duterte sa mga Dabawenyo dili gyud kabayran. Ang amo lang sulti sa ilaha kung hatagan ug higayon muserbisyo sa Dabawenyo,” Rep. Pulong said.
Rigo has been going around in the barangays particularly in the first district to provide services of the office of Rep. Pulong, especially to the victims of fire and calamities.
