Vice President Sara Duterte continues to be the most trusted top government official in the Philippines, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey.

Although Duterte’s approval and trust ratings went down by nine and 10 percentage points to 60% and 61% respectively, the survey, which was conducted from Sept. 6 to 13, showed that Filipinos still trust her based on her performance and trustworthiness.

The survey also showed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s trust rating dropped from 52% points in June to 50% in September, while his approval rating fell from 53% in June to 50%, while House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s approval rating dropped by three percentage points, from 35% in June to 32% in September, and his trust rating decreased by four points, from 35% to 31%.

According to Pulse Asia, the vice president posted majority approval and trust figures in the Visayas with 71% and 74% respectively, Mindanao with 93% and 90% respectively, Class D (both at 59%), and Class E (76% and 77% respectively).

For the President, the survey showed that he has majority approval in Metro Manila (both at 52%), the rest of Luzon (61% and 64% respectively), and Class D (both at 52%).

At the national level, according to the survey, only the vice president experienced movements in her performance ratings between June 2024 and September 2024.

Pulse Asia explained that the appreciation for Duterte’s performance eased from June 2024 to September 2024 (-9 percentage points) while disapproval for the same became more manifest (+8 percentage points).

It also stated that across geographic areas, the vice president’s approval scores declined in Metro Manila.

Pulse Asia stated that some of the recent news events leading up to the survey include the arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, hearings conducted separately by the Senate and the House of Representatives regarding the links of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), the continuing tension between the Philippines and China in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), hearings concerning the budget of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), HOR’s investigation into the abuses arising from the previous administration’s “war on drugs” affected her ratings.
