Department of Trade and Industry 11 (DTI 11) Chief Trade and Industry Development Specialist for Consumer Protection Division Deolly Roque bared that a team from the agency will start conducting massive price monitoring the products in markets starting November in preparation for the Holiday Season.
“Our monitoring team will start massive monitoring in the markets starting November along with the expected time to release ng aming price guide on noche buena products. We also do price monitoring on noche buena products along with the enforcement of the product standards law when it comes to electrical products,” Roque said during Wednesdays Habi at Kape at Ayala Malls Abreeza.
Meanwhile, Roque said DTI 11 is strongly urging the consumers to check safety markings on Christmas lights such as Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) and Product Standard (PS).
“For the Christmas season wala ta’y suggested retail price for the Christmas lights but we are strongly promoting the necessity of the consumers to check the markings like Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) and Product Standard (PS) and see to it na may markings nito ang mga binili nating Christmas lights to ensure that the products are safe to use,” she said.
DTI assured that Christmas lights with the DTI PS Mark or ICC sticker ensure consumers’ safety because it’s made in accordance with Philippine National Standards.
The following are the Christmas lights that require the DTI BPS mandatory certification and consumers are urged to look for some PS Mark or ICC Sticker: Christmas lighting sets using push-in type lamps or filament type and Christmas lighting sets for indoor use or marked with “for indoor/outdoor use.”
The following products are not required to carry the PS mark or ICC sticker: lighting sets integral in Christmas trees/lanterns, decors; lighting sets designed for outdoor use; ropes lights; lighting sets using D.C supply; neon lights; meteor tube; lighting sets with power supply adapter; and lighting sets using General Lighting Services (GLS).
