City Council commends Comia for his leadership in TF Davao

The Davao City Council passed a resolution on Thursday commending Col. Darren Comia for his valuable service as commander of Task Force Davao (TF Davao).

Authored by Councilor Luna Maria Dominique Acosta, chairperson of the Committee on Peace and Order of the City Council, the resolution cited that during Comia’s tenure as TF Davao commander, no terror attacks occurred, demonstrating the effectiveness of his anti-terrorism strategies, intelligence operations, and collaborative efforts among the security forces and stakeholders.

Acosta mentioned that under the leadership of Comia, among TF Davao’s accomplishments include the apprehension of 625 illegal drug couriers, the apprehension of 61 suspects for violations of RA No. 4712 (Tariff and Customs Code), and the apprehension of 131 suspects for violations of RA 10591 or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions.

Acosta stated that over the past three years, TF Davao under Comia conducted a total of 258 anti-terrorism forums that were attended by approximately 65,000 residents of Davao City; eight Kulturavans conducted that were benefited 9,000 individuals; Ulama Peace Summit, Interfaith Prayer for World Peace, and Muslim Youth Congress.

For the personnel’s morale and welfare under Comia, a total of 82 TF Davao personnel were promoted to the next higher grade and a total of 1,599 personnel received various awards and decorations.

According to Acosta, through these achievements, Comia earned distinct credit and honor not only for himself but also for the TF Davao and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

“It is with utmost respect and admiration that Col. Comia’s exceptional leadership and unrelenting dedication to public safety are commended. He has continuously shown remarkable professionalism, integrity, and a strong dedication to the ideals of justice and service throughout his distinguished career,” Acosta said.

Acosta added that TF Davao has made significant progress in upholding law and order, lowering crimes, and cultivating peace with people.

She said in addition to strengthening law enforcement activities, Comia’s strategic vision, creative approach, and excellent decision-making have helped to make Davao City safer.
