Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte led the launching of the Dabawenyo D.C.plinado modules for Grade 6 and Grade 10 students at Teodoro L. Palma Gil Elementary School along E. Quirino Avenue in Davao City on Tuesday.

The Dabawenyo D.C.plinado is a banner program of the mayor, recognizing that it is the Dabawenyo discipline that has taken the city to greater heights.

The Dabawenyo D.C.plinado program will be taught alongside subjects in schools that are crucial for both learners and educators namely Values Education, Araling Panlipunan, and Good Manners and Right Conduct.

The inclusion of the D.C.plinado program in schools is anchored on the ordinance implementing the Dabawenyo D.C.plinado program and integrating the same in the Department of Education (DepEd) curriculum.

“Sa tan-aw nako ang isa ka city or even a country should invest in the future. When you say invest in the future, kinsa man ang future nato? Ang mga bata man so mao naa ta’y mga proyekto nga ingon ani para ma-secure na malinawon, nindot, ug progresibo ang kaugmaon sa atoang lugar,” Duterte said.

The mayor emphasized that the creation of the modules aims to strengthen values and discipline for the future of young Dabawenyos.

“Para ni sa kaugmaon sa mga bata ug sa atong lugar. Pag-abot sa panahon ang mag matter ang intangible gihapon na mga things or values sa pag-abot sa panahon managko mo, kamo lang gihapon mag dala aning syudad nato. Pag-abot sa panahon ma-preserve nato kung unsa man ang nakita natong maayo nga mga butang dinhi sa syudad nato,” the mayor said in his message.

DepEd-Davao Schools Division Superintendent Reynante Solitario said each student from Grade 6 and Grade 10 will receive a copy of the module.

“This material will be yours. Ibigay namin ito sa inyo isa-isa. One is to one module. Kinompute namin lahat ng Grades 6 and 10 learners, so bawat isa sa inyo ay may module,” he said.

Solitario said that with this module, which focuses on the importance of values formation and good moral character, DepEd 11 ensures that the lessons will resonate in the lives of the Dabawenyo learners, shaping their character, and strengthening their sense of social responsibility through the commitment of the educators, the support of DepEd’s partners and the collaboration of the community.

“As we officially launch this program with modules and are ready to use, we stepped into a new chapter of values education in our schools. Not only values education, the good manners and right conduct and Araling Panlipunan,” he said.

The launching was also highlighted with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the city government of Davao and the DepEd 11, the unveiling of the modules, and the signing of the pledge of commitment to the Dabawenyo D.C.plinado program.

Present during the launching were Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain Jr., Councilor Jonard Dayap, DepEd-Davao Assistant School Division Superintendent Rebecca Sagot, DepEd-Davao Chief Education Supervisor Alma Cifra, DepEd-Davao Schools Governance Operations Office Chief Maria Luz Tan, public schools district supervisors, cluster heads, the writers of the modules and Grades 6 and 10 students.
