The Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) announced on Tuesday that PRC 11 is eyeing to inaugurate its regional office building in 6,000 square meter property located in Indangan, Davao City in 2026.
“Client transaction areas will be on two floors with each floor twice the size this current office,” Arjen C. de los Santos, PRC Officer-in-Charge of Finance and Administrative Division, said in the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas at the PRC Regional Office.
De los Santos said PRC 11 held its groundbreaking ceremony last January 8, 2023.
He also said that through the efforts of the PRC and the support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., funding was fully secured and they are now awaiting the enactment of the FY 2025 General Appropriations Bill.
“Once completed, the new regional office building will not only provide better public services, it will be a testament to our enduring commitment to promoting the welfare and interest of professionals,” de los Santos said.
De los Santos added that PRC 11 also inaugurated its second off-site service center in Digos City through the support and assistance of the city government of Digos and started fully operating last January 11, 2023.
“The service center is now catering to clients in Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and even in neighboring regions,” he said.
De los Santos also announced that PRC 11 and the Province of Davao Oriental will soft-open Mati off-site service center at the Old Governor’s Mansion just beside the New Capitol Building on December 18, 2024.
De los Santos said the off-site service center has a tentative schedule for its full operations this January 2025.
He said that negotiations for the establishment of a new service center in Mati City were carried out through the efforts of PRC 11 Director Raquel R. Abrantes and the support and assistance of Governor Sotero Niño L. Uy, Jr.
“Negotiations started last May and were concluded last November with an agreement to fast track the repairs of the assigned office space,” said de los Santos.
PRC in Davao Region was established in 1997.
The agency is mandated to administer, implement, and enforce the regulatory laws and policies of the country concerning the regulation and licensing of the various professions and occupations under its jurisdiction, including the enhancement and maintenance of professional and occupational standards and ethics and the enforcement of the rules and regulations relative thereto.
“Key words are licensing and regulation. When we say regulatory laws, these pertain to the practice of a specific profession and consequently, shall fall under the jurisdiction of PRC,” de los Santos said.
PRC has jurisdiction over 46 major professions, common among these are physicians, nurses, professional teachers, criminologists, and engineers.
All in all, including higher categories and non-baccalaureate categories, PRC covers 69 professions.
