DUMAGUETE CITY – Senatorial candidate Benhur Abalos pledged to fight for lower electricity costs and fair incentives for government workers if elected, addressing key economic concerns in his campaign stop in Dumaguete City.
Abalos, under the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, recounted his stance against the implementation of e-VAT on electricity during his time in Congress.
“Tumayo ako, hindi ako pumayag. Dahil naniniwala ako, ito’y magiging masama sa ating bansa,” he said, promising to revive efforts to ease the burden of high electricity prices.
He also called for equal treatment of government employees, advocating for gratuity pay and Christmas bonuses for job order and contractual workers.
“Sa batas, bawal ito ayon sa COA at DBM, pero hindi dapat. Basta Pasko, pantay-pantay,” he argued.
Abalos assured Dumagueteños that he will stand for policies that directly benefit the working class, urging voters to support leaders who deliver results. “Importante, gawa hindi salita!”
