To make it easier for Dabawenyos to access anti-rabies vaccines, the City Health Office (CHO) recently opened another satellite Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) in Suraya, Lupong Tagapamayapa Bldg. Cabantian. Davao City.
Zamille Lim, Program Head of the Animal Bite Center Main, told the City Information Office that opening another satellite center is important to cater to the number of clients seeking their services, especially those who live far from the city.
She said that Davao City now has 9 Animal Bite Treatment Centers, including its main office in Magallanes. The CHO has satellite centers in Toril, Mintal, Calinan, Marilog, Sasa, Bunawan, Paquibato, and Cabantian.
She said their satellite center offers the same services as the main office including, anti-rabies vaccination, and infiltration of wounds for patients who belong to category 3 or those who were bitten in the head and private parts.
“As long as naa ta’y vaccine, libre jd na siya. Ang amoang other option para lang gyud ma continue namo ang services, naga pa reseta lang gyud mi (It’s free as long as we have the vaccine. Our alternative is to prescribe just to keep providing our services),” she said.
On average, Lim said their main office caters to more than 100 patients per day.
She said the Animal Bite Center in Cabantian is open every Monday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
She also urged Dabawenyos to visit the nearest Animal Bite Treatment Center in their area to avail of the free anti-rabies vaccination and wound infiltration.
