Cenro eyes to plant over 2k mangrove trees this month

Davao City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) Upland Community Project and Forest Management Section Chief Christopher Asibal bared on Wednesday its plans to plant more than 2,000 mangrove trees this month.

Asibal said last January 24, 2025, Cenro has planted 2,400 mangroves along the Talomo coastal road.

“Kana siya dili pa na siya mahuman kay karon na bulan, as Valentine’s Day magtanum na pud,” he said over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).

Asibal said that they invited employees of the city government of Davao to join the mangrove planting activity in the Talomo coastal road area.

Asibal explained that planting mangroves is a big help, especially in the coastal areas to prevent the strong blow of the waves that can damage the coastal area.

He emphasized that it is among the priority programs of Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte the regreening and environment conservation.

He also urged the Dabawenyos to plant trees or plant in their surroundings and backyard even in pots.
