Department of Education 11 (DepEd 11) spokesperson Jenielito Atillo bared on Wednesday that the agency is ready in terms of utilizing teachers as members of the Electoral Board (EB) for the May 2025 midterm local and national elections.
EBs are bodies duly constituted by the commission that will conduct the Final Testing and Sealing (FTS), voting and counting, and transmission of election results.
“Ready nami I just don’t have the number kung pila ka teachers are i-utilize namo because it is the Commission on Elections (Comelec) nga naga decide niana,” Atillo said during the Davao City Peace and Security Press Corps media briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
The EB shall be composed of a chairperson, poll clerk, and third member.
In terms of honoraria, Atillo said as per Comelec’s Resolution No. 11076, the chairperson of the EB will receive P12,000.
“Nitaas na ni kompara sa nilabay nga election. Thank you very much Comelec,” Atillo said.
Atillo said members of the EB will receive P11,000, EB support staff will receive P8,000, P11,000 for the DepED supervising official, P9,000 for the technical support staff and P8,000 for the administrative support.
“Plus, the fact we are given five days service credit, tanang teaching and non-teaching personnel nga atong i-utilize as electoral board and support staff,” he said.
Based on the resolution, a minimum of five days of service credit shall be accrued to all government officials and employees serving as EB, SEB, DepEd supervising officers (DESO), and support staff.
The resolution also stated that the honoraria and allowances shall be paid within 15 days from the date of elections.
“As always it’s an honor for the teachers and the department na the teachers are being tasked to safeguard the ballot at the precinct level. We would like to convey our heartfelt, as always, profuse thanks to the Comelec for this trust and confidence to us,” Atillo said.
The Comelec has adopted an Automatic Election System (AES) using Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) for the May 12, 2025, local and national elections and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections.
