Davao City, the epicenter of political controversies of late, is taking no chances ahead of the 88th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.
Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) head Angel Sumagaysay bared on Wednesday that a total of 8,339 personnel from the security and safety clusters will be deployed during the whole month of March in time for the Araw ng Dabaw festivities.
Of the total security detail, 269 policemen will be deployed daily for each activity of the celebration.
“But dili ni siya muundang kay ngano man? Kay from March 16 hangtod March 30 naa pay other events, private man siya pero naa man gud tao so dapat mabantayan siya,” Sumagaysay said.
Sumagaysay assured that the visibility of security will be of top priority during the entire celebration.
Last week, the city government of Davao unveiled its official Araw ng Dabaw logo, which predominantly highlights the soaring blue eagle with the Davao City icons namely the City Hall of Davao, Mt. Apo, and the Monument of Peace and Unity.
The celebration will be opened with a Misa Pasasalamat at the San Pedro Cathedral followed by the Pasiugdang Pagsaulog at Rizal Park on March 1.
This year, the lineup of activities includes the Misa ng Pasasalamat, Pasiugdang Pagsaulog, Hulagway sa Araw ng Dabaw, Araw ng Dabaw Fair, Konsierto sa Dabawenyo, Parada Dabawenyo, and the Conferment of the Datu Bago Awards.
In its 88th year, the city celebrates its shared history, radiant present, and bright future.
