The Davao City Vices Regulation Unit (VRU), in coordination with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Davao City Field Unit (CIDG-DCFU), confiscated 115 boxes of smuggled cigarettes with a market price of at least P 2.7 million.
The VRU and CIDG-DCFU conducted two separate buy-bust operations on February 13 and February 21 which resulted to the confiscation of the contraband and the arrest of two individuals in violation of the Republic Act No. 10643.
The smuggled cigarettes were condemned on February 24.
Ret. PCol. Hernando Las, Head of the VRU, urged Dabawenyos anew to refrain from purchasing and distributing smuggled items like cigarettes.
Dabawenyos are also reminded to abide by the city’s Anti-Smoking Ordinance, and to report any illegal activities to proper authorities. CIO
