Supporters of Vice President Sara Duterte launched Protect VP Sara Coalition in a Mass and Caravan for Truth, Freedom, and Justice that concluded at the Freedom Park along Roxas Avenue in Davao City on Saturday.
Various groups, mostly wearing green shirts printed with “Protect VP Sara,” gathered at the park after a mass held at the Sacred Heart Church in Obrero and a motorcade.
The gathering was highlighted with song performances from Musicians and Artists for Duterte (MAD) headed by Popong Landero.
Ryan Tristan Digan, lead convenor of Protect Sara Movement, said in an interview that the coalition will be comprised of about 20 to 30 groups supporting the vice president across the country.
“Ang atong paningkamot nga maundang ang ginahimo kay klaro naman kaayo nga binuang ang ilang gihimo nga impeachment. Laliman ka sulod sa usa ka oras niabot ug 215 plus naay 25 kabuok ug nahimo nga 240. Kana ang atong ginababagan ug dili ta musugot nga mapadayon na (impeachment),” Digan said.
Among the speakers was Davao del Sur congressional candidate Arvin Malaza who expressed his dismay at Representative John Tracy Cagas for signing the impeachment complaint against the vice president.
Malanza expressed that like Davao City, “Davao del Sur is not For Sale.”
Meanwhile, a rally dubbed Cebu People’s Indignation Rally was also held on the same day in Mandaue City to condemn the impeachment of the vice president.
It was organized by the Hakbang ng Maisug-Cebu and also aims to air concerns on corruption, illegal drugs, and criminality.
