Butchoy attends Bulawan Festival, earns praise from Rep. Gonzaga

Davao de Oro – 2nd District Representative Ruwel Peter Gonzaga commended Butchoy Taojo, the official congressional candidate of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), for his discipline and respect for the law, highlighting these qualities during the Bulawan Festival culmination on March 8, 2025.

Speaking at the event, where Taojo was personally present, Gonzaga expressed his admiration for the candidate, contrasting him with other politicians who have already begun campaigning prematurely, despite election laws prohibiting early campaigning.

“Many candidates have lost their sense of etiquette and delicadeza when it comes to following COMELEC regulations. For instance, we have an official election campaign period, but most politicians running for office don’t care about it anymore. The moment they get hold of a microphone, they start campaigning, whether it’s allowed or not,” Gonzaga remarked.

The congressman further emphasized that his respect for Butchoy Taojo stems from the latter’s preference for action over self-promotion.

“Butchoy is different. He always says, ‘Don’t let me speak because my purpose is not to make speeches but to provide services that will truly benefit the people,’” Gonzaga added.

Gonzaga also took the opportunity to reiterate his advocacy for peace in Davao de Oro, a vision he shares with his wife, Governor Dorothy Gonzaga, Vice Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy, and Butchoy Taojo.

“Friends, our goal is to ensure that Davao de Oro remains peaceful. That is why our battle cry is Byaheng Kalinaw (Journey to Peace),” Gonzaga declared.

Thousands of Davao de Oro residents attended the Bulawan Festival, joining local officials and esteemed guests, including Butchoy Taojo, as well as Senators Imee Marcos and Benhur Abalos, who also graced the event.

The festival, which celebrates the province’s rich culture and economic progress, served as an opportunity for leaders to connect with the people and reaffirm their commitment to good governance and sustainable development.
