The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) on Wednesday reported that the getaway vehicle used in the broad daylight pawnshop robbery in Davao City was recovered in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental on Monday.

DCPO spokesperson Capt. Hazel Caballero Tuazon said that on March 2, 2025, joint personnel of San Pedro Police Station led by Major Emmanuel Manlatican, City Special Operations Group, City Intelligence Unit and Regional Intelligence Division were deployed to Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental to conduct a follow up operation concerning the robbery of Hannah’s Jewelry and Pawnshop located on Ilustre Street, Davao City on February 26, 2025.

Tuazon said on March 3, 2025, the deployed police operatives, in coordination with Provincial Mobile Force Company Misamis Oriental, Gingoog City Police Station, Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Gingoog City and Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU) Misamis Oriental, were able to recover the getaway vehicle of the suspects, a color silver (Thermalyte) Toyota Innova J M/T SUV parked along Butuan City-Cagayan de Oro national highway in Purok 1, Brgy.24-A, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.

Tuazon said the vehicle was parked about 20 meters away from the house of one of the suspects, identified as Jerome Calo, who is still at large.

According to Tuazon, it was Johny Bulawan who gave the information about Calo and his whereabouts. Bulawan is the suspect earlier arrested at Bankerohan Public Market.

Tuazon said the recovered getaway vehicle was brought to DCPO for further verification and custody and will be part of the additional pieces of evidence for the subsequent filing of cases against the remaining at large suspects at the Office of the Chief of Police (OCP).

Meanwhile, Tuazon urged business owners to immediately contact the nearest police station if they notice suspected individuals wandering around their businesses to prevent the same incident to happen again.

“Kailangan ang mga business owners kung naa silay mamatikdan na mga tao na aaligid aligid sa mga negosyo nila magcontact dayon sila sa atoang station commanders para maadtuan dayon ug para makaconduct ug investigation. Dili gyud na siya ingon na on that day mao na gyud na ilang ginabuhat kay naa na silay ginabuhat before sa ilang pagpanulis. Dapat ang mga business owners alerto pirmi ug magbinantayon sa palibot,” Tuazon said.
