Digos City expresses support for FPRRD

The Digos City Council passed on Monday a resolutiom expressing full support for former president Rodrigo Duterte.

The resolution was passed amid the International Criminal Court (ICC) investigation.

The Digos City Council’s support stemmed during his term’s strong campaign against illegal drugs, criminality, and corruption in pursuit of peace, order, and national development.

The resolution stated that supporters of the former president believed that the actions taken under the latter’s leadership were done in the best interest of the Filipino people, with due regard for public safety, rule of law, and national security.

“This legislative body firmly upholds the sovereignty of the Republic of the Philippines and recognizes the right of its duly elected leaders to govern without external interference,” it said.

The resolution mentioned that the ICC has continued its investigation into the previous administration’s anti-drug campaign despite the Philippines’ official withdrawal from the Rome Statute in 2019, raising concerns over jurisdictional overreach and disregard for national sovereignty.

The resolution also stated that the Philippine government has consistently maintained that the country’s judicial system is fully capable of addressing any allegations related to the anti-drug campaign, making ICC intervention unnecessary and unwarranted;

The Digos City Council sent copies of this resolution be furnished to the former president through the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and to Digos City Mayor Josef Cagas.
