The regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Davao) is advocating to transform all sectors in Davao Region into investment centers, in an aggressive expansion beyond the key cities of the region.

DTI Regional Director Romeo Castañaga announced on Tuesday that with the establishment of the Davao Region Investment Promotion Sub-Committee (DRIPS) of the Regional Development Council 11 (RDC 11), the agency is now supporting local government units (LGUs) in their investment promotion initiatives.

Castañaga explained that the sub-committee aims to establish a harmonized, integrated, and cooperative investment strategy to enhance the local economy.

“Plano natin talaga yung mga investment promotion initiative ng mga LGUs matulungan natin sila,” he said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas.

Castañaga said that one of the supports DTI-Davao will be extending to the LGUs is the facilitation of various trade fairs and investment promotion activities.

He said DTI-Davao already lined up several trade fairs for this year and one of these is an international fair, the International Food Expo, seven are national, and four are regional.

He said the national fairs, include the National Food Fair at SM Megamall in April, the OTOP (One Town One Product) Food Fair at Glorietta in June, the National Trade Fair at SM Megamall in July, National Arts and Crafts at SM Megamall and Mindanao Trade Expo (MTE) Goes to Glorietta in October, 2025 Christmas Village at SM Megamall in November, and DTI Coconut Philippines Trade Fair in August.
