Noe “Butchoy” Taojo, a philanthropist and businessman, has long been dedicated to helping individuals and organizations in Davao de Oro’s 2nd District—even before he decided to run for public office.
However, after filing his candidacy for Congressman, he became the target of black propaganda and baseless accusations aimed at discrediting his genuine intent to serve the people.
The Truth About Small Miners and His Mining Firm
One of the accusations against Butchoy is that he plans to terminate small miners operating under his mining firm in Pantukan if he wins the election.
He vehemently denied this claim, emphasizing that in his 30 years of operation, he has never terminated a single miner. As someone who started from the bottom, he understands the struggles of small-scale miners and values their livelihood.
In fact, the previous owner of the mining area he now operates had initially planned to terminate all miners. To prevent them from losing their source of income, Butchoy purchased the 4,200-hectare mining area to protect their jobs.
Rather than displacing miners, Butchoy encouraged them to reach out to him if they face any issues, especially if there are external forces attempting to push them out of their work.
The Truth Behind the ‘Drug Lord’ Accusation
Another malicious claim against Butchoy is that he is involved in illegal drugs.
His critics linked him to Golden Sun 999 and Development Corporation, owned by Tony Yang, who was arrested for illegal drugs, smuggling, and other crimes. This false association stems from the fact that Butchoy was one of the owners of Golden Sun Cargo Examination Services Corp. in Cagayan de Oro City, a completely separate entity.
To clear his name, Butchoy pointed out that if the allegations were true, he would have already been arrested and formally charged—which has never happened. These accusations are nothing but attempts to tarnish his reputation and derail his mission to help the people.
Moving Forward with Integrity and Service
Despite the black propaganda thrown at him, Butchoy remains unshaken in his commitment to serving the people of Davao de Oro’s 2nd District.
With his tagline “Uban kita sa Kalinaw” (Together, We Strive for Peace), he continues to stand firm as a leader of action, not empty words—a man of genuine integrity whose heart remains with the people. (PR)
