Fifteen policemen from the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) are set to be dismissed from service after testing positive for illegal drug use, according to an official.
PRO 11 Director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete revealed on Friday that the police personnel had undergone due processes and were recommended for dismissal following their positive drug test results during random testing conducted by PRO 11 since last year.
“Here in the Davao Region alone, 15 personnel tested positive since last year. They have all undergone the necessary procedures and will be dismissed from the police service. They are now recommended for dismissal, and their paperwork is under investigation—some are already on my desk and will soon be finalized,” Rosete told the media.
Rosete added that the station commanders of those police personnel who tested positive for illegal drug use would no longer be recommended for future assignments due to command responsibility.
“The commanders of policemen who test positive for illegal drugs will not be considered for future assignments anymore for command responsibilities. Since issues persist, I will ensure they are held accountable for their command responsibilities,” he explained.
Rosete emphasized that random drug testing is a crucial component of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Internal Disciplinary Program, reflecting the force’s unwavering dedication to maintaining a drug-free workplace.
He reaffirmed PRO 11’s determination in combating illegal drugs and reiterated its strong commitment to policies prohibiting substance misuse. Any personnel found violating these rules will face swift administrative and legal consequences.
“Our nationwide random drug testing is frequent, unlike others. You’ll see us visiting stations regularly and finding errant policemen behind bars because we catch them in the act,” he said.
