The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has readied its personnel to ensure the safety of Dabawenyos during the Lenten Season, an official said.
CDRRMO Head Alfredo Baloran, in an interview after Monday’s flag ceremony, said that they have also prepared deployments for the Lenten Season activities.
“Naa nami gi-prepare na mga deployment of our resources sa tanan venues of activities regarding sa celebration sa Semana Santa, naa nata naka-assign na personnels and atong responders (We have already prepared the deployment of our resources in all of the activity venues in connection with the celebration of the Lenten Season. We have also assigned personnel and responders),” Baloran said.
He said that the personnel are assigned to monitor processions and activities in big churches.
Baloran said that they also anticipated large crowds of people in the coastlines and river channels on Easter Sunday.
“Naa na ta’y advisory sa personnel sa Barangay Disaster Risk Reducation and Management Councils (BDRRMC) to closely monitor (We have already advised BDRRMCs to closely monitor [these activities]),” he said.
Baloran said that their office will impose a swim ban should localized thunderstorms affecting shorelines and river channels occur.
Meanwhile, Baloran also urged the public to avoid overexposure to the sun so that they would not suffer from heat stroke and skin rashes.
“Always hydrate, magdala og payong panangga sa init (Always hydrate and bring umbrella as shield from the heat),” he added.
He also urged the public to be mindful of localized thunderstorms, which usually occur in the afternoon, and bring rain protection equipment to avoid respiratory diseases attributed to the rainy weather such as colds and cough. CIO
